Physical description
Ebonised oak “burry” (bureau); with a fall-front carved with bulrushes, pond lilies and centred by the Eton armorial and motto, with a fitted interior with two short drawers with turned handles, two pigeon-holes and a shelf, baize-lined writing surface with graffiti, above four long drawers carved with geometric motifs and foliage and sunflowers, with brass pierced backplates and handles, with a diaper motif on the sides enclosing foliage, one side with the diaper later painted; some mounts now missing; distressed; ebonising possibly later
