"...it belonged to Admiral Jervis and comes from his barge (i.e used at the battle of St Vincent in 1793) - it was part of the 'old' Marten Library, being part of the Marten bequest (he collected such things since Naval history was his big thing). We had it repaired once (arranged by Penny Hatfield) at an amazing premises for doing such things..."
