This is part of a set of Edwardian lamps designed by architect Laurence Kirkpatrick Hall (1875-1950), the architect of the School Hall at Eton, for use in that building. They originally had domed glass lampshades. The lamps can be seen in use in School Library on a large circular table within a photograph reproduced in ‘An Eton Camera, 1920-1959’, by P.S.H. Lawrence (Michael Russell, Salisbury), 1983, p.72.
