Comments

This work was designed by stained-glass artist and writer on heraldry Thomas Willement (1786-1871).

Willement's ledger, held in the National Art Library (Victoria & Albert Museum, London) records that in November 1843 he produced a brass for 'The Rev.d Dr. Hawtrey, Eton', which is described as 'Large Memorial Brass with long inscriptions + coat of arms inlaid engraved and emblazoned in old manner'. The total cost was £9.0.8.
