This is an example of the Olympic banner from the 1948 Olympic Games, held in London.
The logo for the 1948 London Olympics consisted of the clock tower of the Houses of Parliament. The hands of 'Big Ben' point to 4 o'clock, the time at which the opening of the Games was planned. It was the first time an architectural landmark had been used as a symbol of the Games.
