Buckler practised as an architect until 1826, when he decided to specialise in architectural drawing, the field in which he had achieved much greater success. The Eton collection includes a number of drawings of the College by him dated from 1811 to 1825, including a smaller, less finished view of the School Yard taken from a very slightly different position. This particular view of the School Yard was engraved by R.Reeve in 1814 and published by Buckler with a dedication to the Provost, Joseph Goodall and 'the Reverend the Fellows'. The statue of the Founder, Henry VI, erected by Provost Godolphin 1719, was originally drawn further to the right, but was carefully scratched out and redrawn in its rightful position.
