Comments
In 1903, the boarding house called Baldwin's End was gutted by fire. In its place, a red brick house for a master, designed by Thomas Buchanan Carter (1871–1934), was built. Carter worked as an Eton master and an architect. He was also ordained in 1908.
Carter's house for a master, still known as Baldwin's End, can just be seen to the left of this view. To the right is the surviving part of the old Baldwin's End. The gallery above the entrance archway, which had joined two parts of the boarding house together, was built in 1890.
