Paper label taped to verso of frame inscribed: "'Eton, near the sheep bridge in ye playing field - / see no 59 where I sat 1st August 1832 1/2 / past 1. Saw Mr J. Bla[?]re, Young Cromer, the owner of ye wharf, a lady sketching in watercolours / from nature and Mr Selwyn (of:) New Zealand / the roots of ye trees were curiously twisted around themselves'. Inscribed verso."
