Comments
An elaborately finished study, possibly based on an eighteenth century genre print, in a medium which Samuel enjoyed using, and showing far greater skill than his son initially managed.
This work is by Samuel Evans, who moved from Flintshire to Windsor to teach drawing to the daughters of George III. He later became the first Drawing Master (Head fo Art) at Eton College. From 1818 he suffered from ill health.
