Painted urban view of a lane with buildings to either side, three figures and an ecclesiastical building (College Chapel) in the distance
'Opposite the west end of the Chapel is Keate's Lane. The first house on the left after the corner one used to be... let to the Woodward family who, springing from humble origin, gave their name to the lane in front of the house, the roadway being known as Woodward's Lane until Keate [Head Master 1809-34] arose to shed a greater lustre on it.'
