Charles Greville, the younger son of Francis, 8th Baron Brooke and 1st Earl of Warwick, was one of Sandby's pupils as well as being his patron. Greville was amongst the group of intellectuals, artists and amateurs who met in Sandby's house in London, where on Sundays in spring and summer they formed a conversazione on the arts, sciences and literature of the day.
