Drawn sketch of a ruined capriccio by the sea

Comments

'Surely a 'vedute ideale' inspired by the coast near Naples at Possillipo. Such worked were produced by artist who visited Rome and Naples in the middle of the eighteenth century. Both Richard WIlson and Alexander Cozens produced their versions, and influenced their pupils.

No authentic monochrome was drawings are attributed to Richard Wilson, so that the attribution of this drawing must be challenged."
