2 volumes of Stefano Parrocel's 'Views in Rome', removed from their 18th century bindings, mounted, and stored in solander boxes. Includes 219 drawings, hand written index for Folio I, mounted, and handwritten index for Folio II, mounted, and labels and binding spine from the volumes mounted together

Inscription

Many of the drawings are inscribed in ink on the drawing itself, probably by Peachy, and in pencil on the mount by Baddeley

Materials & techniques note

All the drawings are in black-and-white chalk on buff paper, mounted on sheets with a double grey wash border

Locke, William: W. Locke purchased the drawings in Rome in 1750
