Comments
This early photographic reproduction of the 18th-century painting called 'Jane Shore' at Eton College is an illustration from the Catalogue of the First Special Exhibition of National Portraits Ending with the Reign of King James the Second. The exhibition was held at the South Kensington Museum in London (now the Victoria and Albert Museum) in 1866.
The Eton painting was hung alongside the 16th-century version of the painting from King's College, Cambridge, from which it was almost certainly copied.
