This illustration featured in The English Spy (1825) by Bernard Blackmantle. The author pokes fun at elderly local resident Herbert Stockhore. Stockhore was encouraged by Etonians to write a Montem Ode for each procession and enjoyed attending the Montems wearing his own costume. The entertainment of his verse was in its lack of merit:
Then to Salthill speed on,
While the troops they lead on;
Both Mr. Beadon,
And Serjeant Mitford,
Who's ready to fi't for't.
