This print was a plate in the 1862 publication 'Monographie de l'oeuvre de Bernard Palissy: suivie d'un choix de ses continuateurs ou imitateurs' by Alexandre Sauzay (1804-1870), a monograph on the French Huguenot potter Bernard Palissy (c.1510–c.1589).
'Flore Dite la Belle Jardinière' (or 'Flora Known as the Beautiful Gardener') is an example of Palissy's polychrome lead-glazed earthenware from the collection of a Mr Dutuit of Rouen.
