Comments
'Lord Justice Chitty yesterday, in the presence of a company of Old Etonians, presented a portrait of the Provost to Eton College and a replica to the Provost himself. Dr. Hornby afterwards entertained at dinner upwards of 100 Old Etonians.'
[Evening Star, Tuesday, 7 December 1897, p.2]
'[1897] Dec. 6 [Founder’s Day], Hornby’s portrait had been presented in afternoon and hung in his dining-room. I like it but it makes him younger than he is.'
