Half-length painted portrait of a man in profile, facing to the left, wearing a black skull cap
Comments
Images of Henry V are derived from two manuscript illuminations, painted during his lifetime, which both show him with the same distinctive shaved hairstyle. This familiar image of Henry was created in the 16th century, the earliest known version being the portrait in the Royal Collection, which was painted between 1504 and 1520. This work of c.1606 is probably derived from a version in the Royal Collection at Windsor Castle.
