Edward Impey (d.1946) was a boy at Eton; Assistant Master 1884.1-1913.3; House Master 1889.3 to 1913.3. He was master of 2 Common Lane 1889.3-1891.3; Coleridge House 1892.1-1894.3; Jourdelay's 1895.1-1899.2; Cotton Hall House 1899.3-1907.2; Walpole House 1907.3-1913.3. In total, he served as a master at Eton for 29 years.
According to Claude Impey's letter of 11/04/91 the painting was on loan to Eton unless he reclaimed it during his life time. After his death the painting became the property of Eton College.
