A smaller (24 x 19cm) oil-on-panel portrait of John Duke Coleridge by Margaret Carpenter was sold through Sotheby's at 'The Chanter's House Sale', on 24 October 2006 (Lot 22). The smaller portrait seems to have been painted when the sitter was younger.

The sitter was a boy at Eton from 1831 to 1838. He later became Lord Chief Justice of England and the 1st Baron Coleridge.
