Description
Painted view of a seated man, surrounded by young men/boys
Comments
This painting is a rare example of an Eton subject by Oliver Thomas, painted while he was a member of the teaching staff at the Drawing Schools, Eton College. It shows one of Eton's more informal activities known as 'private business', a theme which allows the artist to explore an apparently accidental grouping of boys attending David Macindoe's reading.
