Comments
Provenance note: This work and a similar portrait were gifted to Eton by Francis Davies in 2026. Francis had beem married to Peter Llewelyn Davies (c.1904-1989), formerly an Eton Scholar. Peter's father (died 1960) was also an Eton Scholar under the same name. Peter Llewelyn Davies senior and his brothers were the inspiration for the J.M. Barrie's 'Peter Pan'.
The father of Peter Llewelyn Davies senior was Arthur Llewelyn Davies (1863-1907), who was a master at Eton College for a single year, from 1886 to 1887. It is not known how the Llewelyn Davies family came to own these two Eton Leaving Portraits. They are thought to reprosent two brothers.
