Content (description)

The collection of photographs in this album form a memorial photograph album for the First World War.
There are 88 individual portraits of Eton boys, each named. Many have annotations, including details of their Eton House and their military career, sometimes including the date that they were wounded or killed in action.
The album also contains informal photographs, possibly taken by a boy or master, some named:
Collegers, 1909
The Wall Game, St Andrews Day, 1910
King George V visit, 1911
Boy Scout 'Rally', 1911
Procession of Boats and Speeches, Fourth of June, 1912, 1913
OTC (CCF) camp 1913

The album also contains copies of silhouettes by Mrs Edward Lyttelton of Eton masters, Warre Cornish, Ramsay, Luxmoore, Broadbent and Lyttelton.
There are also non-Eton photographs in the album:
Summer Fields School group photographs, 1903 - 1906. Summer Fields Masters; Gymnasium Eight 1903; Summer Fields Cricket Elevens, 1904 - 1907; School play 1906; Rev. Dr C. E. Williams.
The album also includes First World War photography, including aerial photographs; photographs of no-mans-land; the trenches; Major General Sir William Thwaites.
