8½ lines in Gray's hand (pasted onto a large leaf) reading: "Davenant reckons there were 12 millions of current coin (gold & silver) in 1711. Madeira Wine, Tea, Coffee & Chocolate, first mentioned in Acts of Parliament in 1600. Act of Parl:t. in 1665 for paving St. James's Street, Pall-Mall, the Hay-Market, &c:".

With a TLS to the Vice-Provost from Herman Liebert (Librarian, the Beinecke Rare Book and Manuscript Library, Yale University Library) dated 21 June 1965 and original envelope which has ms. notes on it; typed letter from the Vice-Provost (J.H.L.L.) to Mr Liebert, dated 30 Junr 1965; both letters are about the presentation of the ms. from Yale University Library to Eton College Library.

Housed inside display album of other printed and manuscript items relating to Thomas Gray; album has dark green leather half-binding with marbled paper covered boards and gilt decoration, with spine and cover title: 'Gray's Ode on a distant prospect'.
