19th-century brown cloth over millboards by Westleys & Clark in London. Covers decorated with blind pattern at the corners and centre. Spine flat, decorated with blind patterns and gilt titling ("Results of astronomical observations of the Cape of Good Hope."; "By Sir John F.W. Herschel, Bart."). Textblock trimmed. Endpapers of undecorated wove paper; binders' ticket on rear pastedown; three flyleaves at the upper end of the textblock, one at the lower end.
