19th-century calfskin over millboards. Covers decorated with double gilt fillets and blind roll to form a border; gilt roll on board-edges; blind roll on turn-ins. Spine with five raised bands decorated with gilt fillets and titling over black labels ("Milton on Christian doctrine"; "By C.R. Sumner"). Textblock trimmed and marbled. Endpapers of marbled paper (pastedown and facing flyleaf); three flyleaves on the upper end of the textblock and two at the lower end.
