Dr Betham's Benefaction
Series
Edward Betham (1709-1783) was a King's Scholar at Eton from 1720 and went on to King's College, Cambridge in 1728. He became a Fellow of King's in 1731, rector of Greenford in 1770 and a Fellow of Eton in 1771. He served as a Bursar in both colleges, and his distinctive hand can be found on many archives at Eton. In addition to this benefaction for Eton scholars at King's, he paid for the statue of Henry VI which now stands in the Ante-Chapel at Eton.
