Deed between 1. Sophia Gifford Edmonds and 2. Provost and Fellows. Transfer of £800 to found Readings in memory of her brother William Edmonds (at Eton 1884-1889).
To be called the Lower School Readings in English founded in Memory of Will Edmonds, and delivered by a reader chosen 'from among authors of good imaginative literature and those who have special gifts in the interpretation of such literature'. Readings not to deal with the biography or character of the author from whose works the Readings are taken.
