Ernest Lee Churchill (1870-1956), himself at Etonian, was a master at Eton from 1893 to 1943, and a housemaster from 1904-1926. A great benefactor of Eton, he compiled The Eton Book of the River with L.S. Byrne in 1935, as well as French Grammar textbooks, and he left his copyrights in these works to the College.
