Typed letter regarding Chalcot Estate and London and North Western Railway, from H.A. Steward to Hallowes and Carter.Steward has noticed for some time that the red brick panelled wall erected by the company opposite to the property of the College in Adelaide Road has had a good many advertisements affixed thereto. These have been of a patriotic nature dealing with the purchase of war bonds, etc., and Steward has not therefore thought it necessary while the war continued to draw your attention thereto.
Steward finds it now that most of these have been removed, and the company have placarded the wall with notices that nobody may affix advertisements to the company's property without consent. Steward does not know how long it is intended that these shall remain, but if they remain indefinitely they are as unsightly as any other form of advertisement.
Steward notes that by Section 14 (8) of the Company's Act of 1912, the company were prohibited from affixing any advertisements upon the exterior of any boudnary wall between the land of the company and the estate or the street.
Steward wishes to draw the company's attention to the matter.
