Title
Museum of Eton Life
Level
Series
Administrative / Biographical history
Opened in 1985, the MEL was designed principally to provide paying visitors to the College with a glimpse into the College's history. Its existence also justified charging them enough to cover the cost of policing them, and tourism's profits were channelled to College funds via Eton College Services. The collections and curatorial responsibility, however, was subsequently transferred to the College, overseen by the Collections Committee.
