Item
15 August 1803
1 item
Presided at a meeting at the Christopher to enrol volunteers; over 190 entered in two days. Rowed to Staines from Sixth-Form Bench to see the new bridge; to London, Greenwich and Richmond; saw Mrs Jordan at Richmond theatre and stayed at the Star and Garter (expensive); about to stay with Lady Downe at Bookham [Lora, widow of 4th Viscount]. Heard the Tower guns fire to celebrate the capture of Tobago; saw the illuminations at the gambling halls of St James's; judging by lamps in town on 12th August, the Prince's popularity not very great.
