Sowerbys are trying to buy the Tankerville collection. Has had an unpleasant correspondence with the Bishop of Ely on Irving's disappointment. 'How heartily do I lament that my name was ever introduced in the arrangement between the Duke of R. and Marquess Camden.' The jurisdictions for granting licences will remain as before the vile Marriage Act passed (3 Geo. IV c. 75 removed right of peculiars to grant licences). Received a letter from Lord Ellenborough promising exemption so will continue to grant them. PLACE: The Lodge, Eton
