Dined at Windsor Castle and spoke to the Queen; description of dinner in the Waterloo Gallery the following day. Court news; Captain Ross [Sir James Clark Ross, 1800 - 1862, polar explorer] has returned. 'He bore an incessant fire of royal interrogatories with great tact'; discoveries relating to magnetic pole; animals seen. Drawings of Eskimo women shown.
