Has come to town on account of the death of his brother-in-law Sir William Molesworth. Finds the copy of the 'Handbook for Travellers in Spain' which he intended for the boys' library but has mislaid the directions. Asks to whom he should send the book. The Provost's former pupil, his son [Sir Francis Clare Ford] is at Munich which he finds dull and chilly compared to Naples.
