15 May. At request of Mr Charsley encloses his explanation. Imagines he wrote it because he knew how thoroughly he deprecated the scheme [sewage farm]. People do not trust science, and such a scheme can only be injurious, witness Uppingham. Hopes to return to Eton tomorrow.
