Approves appointment of C.J. Rowlatt as Vice-Provost though thinks a fixed period should be stated because of his health; ex-Etonians at Trinity have not been approached for the Appeal. Reports conversation with George Cary (who made catalogues of the incunabula and the Aldines while still at College): complete catalogue 'a waste of time, there being a great deal of very dull stuff' and unnecessary to retain duplicates of material with a high market value. Provost: thinks Charles Rowlatt will accept post of Vice-Provost (details of arrangements given) but is unsure about College Library; to keep a general eye but the College will need to pay a cataloguer.
