Content description
Commends Rev. David Tonkin, working at Eton Mission. Mentions old Jesus College acquaintances. Provost: Mission is Head Master's responsibility. Discusses Jesus College dons. 'I expect you know that Abbott is dead. I am afraid that the last few years of his life were rather miserable, as he had to live with his sister ... and he was much too kindly a man to use the brutal methods which would have been necessary to free him from her domination'. 'Great surprise' to be appointed Provost - thought it would be a half or quarter time job, as in the past, 'but I have been foolish enough to allow more and more business to be thrust upon me'.
