Titled in 18th century hand: Commons Books with ye names of Fellows, Scholars etc 1598, 1601, 1604, 1641 ff.1-56 September 1597 - September 1598 f.1 1597-1598 in ink, c. 18th cent ff.1-3 Names of boy servitors of Vice Provost, Fellows and Head Master, by term. 2nd - 4th quarters ff.57-114 September 1598 - September 1599 f.53 1599 in Betham's hand: pencil 1597 (struck through), 1599 - 1600. [However William Clarke appears among the Fellows in the 2nd week of the 3rd quarter, which began on 23 March, and as he was admitted on 3 April 1599 (41 Eliz I) the gathering must relate to this year] ff.58-61 Servitors' names ff.115-168 September 1601 - September 1602 f.115 Part missing, very faded and damp stained.1601 in ink in Betham's hand; modern pencil 1600-1601 ff.115-118 Servitors' names f.116 18th century note: 1601-1602 (ut videtur). For the first time a year as well as a day is given for the start of the term. ff.169-172 Servitors' names ff.227-295 [September 1640] - September 1641 f.227 Pen trials, signatures and scribbles in a variety of hands, among which the following stand out: Robertus Sparrowe, Aulae Etonensis Praesectus (sic) Aug 27 1641 (3 times); Jacobus Saunders Aulae Etonensis Praefectus [John Meredith became a Fellow in April 1642 and would therefore appear in the lists if this gathering began in September 1641]
