According to the statutes, the Precentor was to be elected annually from among the fellows, and his duty was "To repeat the chants in singing and otherwise to perform in the choir of the said collegiate church the office of precentor in all and singular things that pertain thereto" [Statute 12]. He was paid 5 marks on top of the usual stipend.
