Indenture of Award by Philip Courtenay, Esquire, arbitrator in the dispute between William Champernon, Squyer, lord of Modbury, and William Beuselyn, Prior, to the effect that Wiliam Champernon and his foeffees shall ratify under their seals the indenture made by James de Oxton and Robert Treward, 16. September, 1302 (B.6/XXV. here styles 3. edward the first.), and the possesion by the said Prior of all his lands mentioned therein, and shall quitclaim all their right in the lands called Dounyngusmede lying in the tything called Mochell Modbury, amd shall suffer the said Prior to bar the door in the wall in the North side of his orchard and to repair and take the profits of all the hedges and ditches of the garden and orchard, and so have and enjoy the same as in the right of his Priory, and the said Chamernon shall not claim or occupy the land lying between the Priory and the wall of the Manor in the North part of the Priory, except at such times as it shall be necessary to repair the said wall. And the Prior shall pay the said Chamernon ten marks, of which five marks have been paid and ive marks are ready to be paid.
