Indenture of lease, by master William Daye, Provost, and the College, of Eton to Roger Daye, of Denham, Co. Bucks of the manor or Priory of Modbury and a tenement and five closes of ground in Notter, Co. Cornwall, now held by Thomasyn Gyfford, Emme Dobin and Nicholas Dobin for their lives; and the manor of Upton, together with eight closes(named) in the parish of Modbury, and a cottage lately held by John Hill, of Flete, and now by Michael Malet, and a tenement or cottage with three closes(named) and a peice of ground called the Wood; and the manor of Penquit. To hold for forty years from the Annuciation next, for a yearly rent of 14li ; 6s : 6d for the manor of Modbury and the lands in Notter, and 21li : 16s : 5 1/2d for the manors of Upton and Penquit and ten pounds for the perquisites of courts and other casualties. The advowson of the vicarage of Modbury had been granted to the said Roger by indenture of 4 June 1562. will all lands etc. belonging to the rectory.
