Memorandum by William de Faucomberge, Sheriff of Devon, that he has received by the hands of Nicholas, Prior of Modbury, a writ from the King at Exeter, Tuesday, the feast of the Apostle Philip and James, 4 Edward III, instructing him not to distrain the Abbot of St Peter super Dyvam [St Pierre-sur-Dives], who is quit at the Exchequer of forty shillings owed for a fine for having a general attorney; witness R. de Bocyngham, at Westminster, 20 January 3 Edward III (Pipe Roll, 2.
