Piddlehinton, Dorset: Draft of order concerning exchange and enclosure
Item
11 September 1620
Draft of an order made at a court held 11 September 1620 on the exchange and enclosure then made between the farmer, freeholders and tenants of the manor of Piddlehinton to the effect that Edward Lowman, the farmer, shall divide all the land now or lately used for arable land belonging to the said farmer into three fields and ever hereafter shall 'eare' and sow with corn and grain every year two or these three fields to the end that the parson may not be prejudiced in his tithe corn.
And at the said enclosure there was allotted to Master William Oates, the parson, to be annexed to the parsonage, 2 1/2 acres of meadow out of the meadow called the Lord's Mead and adjoining a close of pasture belonging to the parsonage called the parson's home close, in lieu of and recompense for the tithes of about 100 acres which were arable before and now are pasture in common among the tenants.
Endorsed: Puddle Hinton 16 April 1623
