Piddlehinton, Dorset: Indenture of lease of site of manor

Indenture of lease, for £243 15s 10d and the surrender of former lease, by the Provost and College to George Mayo, of Little Puddle, gentleman, of the site of the manor of Piddlehinton, and a cottage with a garden, orchard and backside, excepting all timber on the premises, and all ash trees on the westdown and the water mills and brooks belonging to the same, together with a piece of ground forming part of the orchard containing 2 roods, 20 perches, which was formerly copyhold of the manor; all the lands (totalling in 219 acres 2 roods 20 perches) described in a terrier attached to this indenture, for a rent of £4 9s 10d and 252 gallons of wheat and 324 gallons of malt or their money equivalent at the current rate of the Windsor market, together with £4 for the said 2 roods and 20 perches, and £18 8s 4d, the amount payable for the redeemed land tax. The lessee to provide lodging for the lessors or their Officers for 2 days and 3 nights, not more than twice in one year, and to receive all rents of assise, fines, heriots and other profits of the courts of the manors of Piddlehinton and Charlton Parva, and account for the same to the College twice yearly. To hold for 20 years from Michaelmas last.
