Sturminster Marshall, Dorset: Indenture of lease for rectory

Indenture of lease by Sir Thomas Smithe, knight, Provost, and the College, to Robert Crosse of Holcom Regis, co. Devon, of the parsonage of Sturminster Marshall (excepting the advowson of the vicarage there and the lordship of Lyttle Charleton) for 40 years from the feast of the Annunciation 1572 for a rent of £24. The lessee shall provide food and lodging for the lessors and their horses for one day and one night, whenever they shall come there. Attached by a parchment tongue is a bond by the said Robert, and by Augustine Crosse, of Eton, in £40 to the Provost and College, the condition of which is that, if conditions of the accompanying indenture are observed, the bond shall be void.
