Hullavington and Clatford, Wiltshire
Series
The alien priory or priories of Hullavington and Clatford belonged to the abbey of St Victor en Caux (in Kaleto) in Normandy. But whereas Clatford was included in the grant to Eton College of 1441, the name of Hullavington does not appear until the Consolidation Charter of 1446. The Court Rolls however show that William Waynflete was already holding court at Hullavington in 1443, from which it may be assumed that Hullavington was included in Henry VI’s grant to the college.
The last piece of property owned by the college here was sold in 1972, however the majority was disposed of around 1960.
