Lease by Henry Bost, Provost of the Royal College of the Blessed Mary of Eton, co. Buks, and the college to William Evyngton, esquire, and Joan, his wife, of a messuage with a garden adjacent situated in the town of New Windsor, co. Berks, in the street called Prestisstrete opposite the King's gaol there between the tenement late of William Knoller, now of Joan, relict of Richard Maryner, on the south, and the grantor's messuage on the north, Prestisstrete on the west and the land there called le Oldehawes on the east, which the said Provost and College lately had of the gift of David Haukbroke, clerk, and Richard Clerk, yoman. To be held by the said William and Joan for their lives in survivorship, yearly rent 8s 4d payable in equal portions at Michaelmas and the Annunciation. The lessees to keep the premises in repair, but if the messuage shall be damaged for other cause than lack of repair the lessors shall rebuild it within a year, with license for the lessors to enter and distrain if the rent is a month in arrears.
