The rectory of Long Compton came into the possession of Eton College by a deed of exchange with the Crown dated 1 June 1547. The parsonage and church of "Moche Compton" are described in ECR 14/1, as having lately been parcel of the possessions of Thomas Cromwell, late earl of Essex attainted of high treason.
The parsonage was transferred in 1907, the manor farm sold in 1958 and the chancel liabililty compounded in 1961.
