Long Compton, Warwickshire: Letter concerning fine
Item
5 June 1774
Thomas Walker, Woodstock, to Reverend Dr Roberts concerning Mr Hinde's fine.
"I will not dispute or enter into Mr Palmer's abilities or merit as a judicious surveyor, but I will venture to assert that it was impossible for him of the greatest genius that ever lived to know anything of the real value of Long Compton tythes for the little time he spent in the place, if my information is true."
Seal, oval, 25mm, red wax. Head of (Shakespeare).
